Cedar Bay Cherry, which is a native of Australia, is also known as Beach Cherry. This is rated as one of best tasting fruits from Australia.
The plant is a large shrub, upto 4 m high, with a typical lilly pilly appearance. The leaves are thick textured, coriaceous, lustrous on dorsal surface, glabrous, 3-8 cm long., with 2-4 mm long petiole.
It bears small white flowers.
The fruits are bright red and 15 mm diameter. The flesh is white and 1 or 2 seeds are contained in each fruit..
Usage
The fruit is sweet tasting and can be eaten fresh.
